Following "63 shakuhachi pieces of Myoan Shimpo School" and "39 Shakuhachi pieces of Myoan Taizan-school", this is the latter 37 pieces of shakuhachi classics inherited by Shodo Sakai.
The essence of Komuso shakuhachi, succeeded directly from Nyoto Moriyasu and other masters!
A four-year project went into recording all 39 pieces, an unprecedented work by Sakai Shodo!
Included are classical pieces from Futaiken, Renpoken, Kizenken, Ryugenji, Rinseiken, Shouganken, Fudaiji, Otoguro Myoanji, Itchoken, Echigo Myoanji, Myoan Shinpo style, Nesasaha Kimpu style, and others.
All newly recorded.
Includes a separate commentary in English.
Yamakawa Naoji explains the history of komuso shakuhachi in an easy-to-understand manner, and also explains the history and tune of each piece in the commentary.
