High-quality Tonoko (clay powder) from Yamashina, Kyoto. Perfect for making "Sabi-urushi" (urushi paste) used in Shakuhachi/Shinobue undercoating and Kintsugi repair. Mix with water first to form a smooth paste, then blend with Seme-urushi (Ki-urushi).

Made for easily achiving a red coat, shu-no-moto is a blend of shuai and shu-no-ko powder. Use this as it is, no need to mix with any other red pigments.  50g or 100g

Although Urushi contains a compound that can cause a reaction similar to poison ivy, proper handling (gloves and long-sleeve shirt), and working in a well-ventilated area will prevent an allergic reaction. Urushi is a natural material and does not contain toxic chemical additives. 

 A light amber, near lacquer, shuai is used as an intermediary in other achiving colors. (except for black)

You can also mix with shu-no-moto or shu-no-ko to achieve a RED lacquer finish. Approx.100g
