How do I order?
We offer 3 convenient ways to order: online, email and fax.
Orders can be placed on our website using our secure online (SSL) order form which allows you to make your payment online.
Please note our online checkout will not show shipping fees as it'll be manually added after the order is placed.
If you need to know the exact postage, please contact us with the product name and quantity.
To order by fax, you may note all the necessary information (order details and quantity, shipping and payment information) and fax us the order. Fax +81-3-3950-5492
Orders may be placed via email by spreading the payment information into several emails. For security measure, please do not send your payment details in one email.
We prefer to accept all orders in writing to avoid errors. Back to top
How do I pay?
The payment of your order is due in full at the point of purchase.
We accept all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, JCB, and American Express. We do not accept personal checks & payments from overseas banks.
If you do not have credit cards, you can make an international postal money order at major post office and send the check to us. (Residents in Canada and EU: Please remember it may take 4 weeks or more to reach your postal money order to us, so there will be nearly 2-month till you actually receive the order.)
For international money order payment, there will be an extra 500 yen added to the amount. Back to top

Is there a charge for sales tax?
Japanese residents are charged domestic consumption tax.
There is no charge for the above tax on all orders shipped outside Japan, however a 5% handling fee will apply. (The handling fee is included on the web catalog)

How will I be notified of my order status?
We contact our customers by email at several points of the order process. It is imperative the customer includes an accurate email address on their order.
Normally, the first email is sent immediately after an order is submitted to confirm your order is in our system.
Then a second email will follow just after your order is shipped out. This email will include the tracking number and the grand total of your purchase. (Your payment details will not be mentioned.) Back to top

Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) have spam controller for incoming emails. Earthlink, for example, will not accept emails that are not listed by the users. What if my payment is declined?
We will send an email within 48 hours of the order being placed to verify if the payment has been declined.
This happens quite often when a shopper makes a purchase at unusual places especially in foreign countries.
Since orders are not processed if the payment is declined, it is the customer's responsibility to contact the card issuer if their payment is declined. Back to top
Do you ship outside JAPAN?
We ship almost worldwide Orders shipped outside Japan are sent via the Registered Mail or EMS of Japan Post. Shipping charges are dependent on the weight and destination. The postage does not cover any customs or duty charges a country may impose on the receiver of the package. (Sorry, we do not ship to Africa and Indonesia) Back to top
How long is shipping from your location to me?
Orders shipping from Tokyo (Japan) normally takes as follows.
For Registered Mail with tracking information:
To Asia: 5-8 business days
To North America, Oceania: 5--12 businesss days
To Europe, South America: 7--14 business days (Except Italy! It usually takes 4 weeks to arrive Italy)
For Express Mail with tracking information:
To Asia: 2--4 days
To North America, Oceania: 4--6 days
To Europe, South America: 5--8 days
Can I choose a shipping method other than EMS?

Are these used flutes?
NO!! All listed products we offer are brand new.(except for the ones listed as "pre-owned" or "antique") Our bamboo shakuhachi are made of Japanese madake-bamboo, all bamboo shinobue are made from Japanese shino-bamboo. Back to top
What is your return policy?
Defective items will be replaced at no extra cost. If breakage or damage has occurred "in shipping" please contact access 'at' mejiro-japan.com or call us immediately. Please describe the damage and request a replacement.
