This is "Grade B" 4-rin rattan (Width: 1.2mm), which may have some warping or rough spots (burrs). We have packaged it in small quantities to keep the price low.
☛NEWS: It has become increasingly difficult to source rattan over the past years, and it seems the situation will only worsen. As a result, prices will inevitably continue to rise.
Essential item for shakuhachi and shinobue making.
To correct warping in rattan, the standard method is to dampen it with water (or warm water) from a spray bottle to soften it, reshape it, and then secure it in place while it dries. Rattan has the property of becoming pliable when wet and hardening into the set shape as it dries. However, please handle it carefully, as pulling too hard can cause the rattan to snap.
